My D(elivery) day-Round 2

I kept telling myself that I’ll find some time to write this entry on the D(elivery) day of my second boy and before I know it, its now the 3rd week and nothing is posted. I am sure some of you who are parents yourselves know how it is to have a newborn; moreover I have an older child who is 3 in the house too.

I am currently in my 26weeks of my second pregnancy, and it is too obvious to hide the fact
that I am very much pregnant. No more excuses of too many pies, or easter eggs etc (ha!) Many
in fact are expecting me to be near my due date soon judging at the size of my protruding
belly. I am only 3/4 way there! (Arghh…) Anyway….this pregnancy is quite unique as I also
have my little 2.75 yr old and I try to let him know that a baby is on the way. He loves the
idea of being a big brother and had shown his likings towards the much younger babies at the
creche he goes to. Teachers from the creche always praise him for being very gentle and
protective over babies there. So I guess it is a relief to know all that and hopefully the
whole sibling rivalry will not be a big issue in our household.
Anyway….Jared will often insist on kissing my swollen belly (to kiss the baby) and once I
showed him how my belly ‘moved’ and ’shook’ when the baby moves in the inside. He was totally
blown away with delight and now he will lift his shirt up and ‘moved’ his belly (by breathing in
and out rapidly) to show others claiming aloud “I have a baby in the belly too and its moving!”
Isn’t he the cutest?!

(Taken at 23 Weeks)
A friend of mine who is having her first baby asked me recently. “Tell me Jo, what do I have to expect in terms of changes in my daily lives once the baby comes.” She has been married for quite a few years now and is totally over the moon with the pregnancy. I didn’t want to make her all panicky and worried so I told her there will be changes for sure but all will sort itself out. And babies are just totally a blessing no matter how you see it. We don’t call it a bundle of joy for nothing. All is worth it, I said.

Bun #2 Journal (An ongoing entry):
I have started these entries awhile back but didn’t put in much effort to actually collate them together. I know the longer I waited the more work I’ll have to do at a later stage and like what I’ve started with my first pregnancy, it ended up staying in a paper journal. If I were to have pulled my fingers out then, I would be needing to start another on from scratch. This piece of posting will be an ongoing entry so if you are following my progress….keep coming back to check….  Hahaha…anyway….

9 August 2004 (Monday)
How the day started….
It was about 9am and I was having stomachache….and feeling I needed to go to toilet to ease the discomfort. Even the visit to the restroom and having loose bowel I was still feeling rather uncomfortable. I was thinking to myself that this Braxton Hicks (practice contraction) felt more like a cramp on the lower belly. Decided to start working on the computer to get some work done. These are a few more things that I couldn’t finish on Friday (today is supposedly the first day of my maternity leave). My estimated due date (EDD)is 18 August, and I had the intention of deferring my leave a week more since there is still
9 more days before the actual big day.
