Here i was, all geared for a great shopping experience since arriving back in Singapore for a much needed R&R trip and boy did it start off “great”. Jo and I had decided that it would be nice to just hit the shops in the morning to do some retail therapy. This so called retail therapy was drastically cut short once i decided that i would buy a couple more new pairs of swimming trunks in preparation for our trip to Club Med where im expecting to be submerged in a pool most of the time there.
As luck would have it, i walked pass one of the stores i frequent relatively often when im back, which sells all things to do with swimming. Singaporeans it seems, appears to be one of the few populations left in this world that dont shy away from wearing Speedos hence there are plenty of shops selling this stuff. Kiwis on the other hand, find them repulsive. Probably cause most cant fit into them…..or so i thought…

Since Jared was turning 5 years old, it was finally time for him to move on and start in the big wide world of school. For his last day at the Symond Street daycare, the teachers decided to organize a simple farewell / birthday hunt for Jared.

Jared's Birthday Party

Jayden playing in the backyard.
As all parents will tell you…kids appear to grow up so fast even in their own parents eyes. Jayden certainly grew up real fast…i suspect it may have something to do with the fact that he eats more than me. If you tried to constantly eat cereal through the day, coupled with his 3 large square meals, throw in about 2 to 3 bottles of formula and some ribena drinks…you would grow too……side ways.

Flight of Dragons first released in 1982
A little awhile ago during a close family gathering, an aunt of mine mentioned how she had searched all over the web for a particular animated program that was released when i was still a wee toddler. For some odd reason, the mere mentioned of the movie title triggered a dormant part of my memory and so i began the search as well.
It was through the magic of the internet that i eventually found it. Ah the memories! The introduction, the music and just the 80’s style animation just made me feel like a real kid again. The best part is, the last time i watched this program was about Jared’s age, who happen to be sitting right next to me at the time. Who would have thought that the next time i would watch this movie from the last time would be when im in my 30’s, sitting next to my elder son, enjoying a nice relaxing Sunday?
This program still doesn’t seem to me like a kids program as the storyline is based around the co-existence of magic and modern day science. Dragons form the main storyline of course. Despite having seen so many modern day animated movies, i still say this one ranks very high in my books. The storyline is amazing and quite thought provoking since it borders between fantasy and science. If you think about it, religion and modern day science have a similar separation.
If you have never heard of it, i urge you to check it out and watch it. It runs for about 90minutes and has a great dialogue. For those of you who have, watching it again may just bring back a flood of memories that you might have kept dormant since you were a kid or young adult.

The site had been neglected greatly over the last few months partly due to the fact that our family had gone back to Singapore over the Christmas period coupled with a busy schedule. Since things were starting to settle down a little, i figured it was the best time to do a little clean up of our little home page. As you can tell by reading this, the revamp is finally complete!

Having only recently gotten into the GPS Navigational craze, i was lucky enough to have received the Tomtom One XL from my beloved wife, Jo as a Christmas present (i swear i didn’t request for one). I couldn’t really find any really good reviews on it so i figured i might as well just write up one which i can refer my friends too if ever they were keen on getting one.
Here are my thoughts on it, both the good and the bad….

For months i was truly looking forward to this holiday as 2006 had been a tiring one. I really needed this trip and enjoyed it fully. My only regret was not staying a little longer but then again, holidays are never enough. Here’s a short blog on what mischief we got up to in Singapore over Christmas and New Years.
